Mythology Worlds
MONGOLIA
Land of the Khans

Chinggis Khan conquered more land area than any other conqueror in history.
That is indeed quite legendary!

When Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty converted to Buddhism in the 1200s C.E., the native shamanic myths were devalued.
The Mongolian Buddhist figure of the White Old Man represents all that remains of the once-mighty shamanic deity who ruled the Heavens.
However, shamanism remains an integral part of Mongolian culture, so the native beliefs never completely went away.
