This is my third summer-themed blog post in a row.
This time, the theme is thunderstorms!
This cartoon represents Raijin, the Japanese demon god of thunder, and how (according to legend) he used lightning bolts to save Japan from being conquered by the Mongols.

It also explains how real-world history many have inspired the legend.
(in this case, that time when the Mongols tried to invade Japan, but were destroyed by a typhoon...then tried a second time, but were destroyed again by another typhoon)
There is also an interesting detail on the lower-right corner:
Raijin likes to eat human belly buttons, but you may notice how I never give people navels in any of my cartoons.
Since I drew Raijin into my cartoon universe, he is rather disappointed that he cannot find any belly buttons in my comic space.
This is really just another one of those cartoon quirks, from the Simpsons' yellow skin to anime characters' large eyes...to cartoon characters in general never aging.
