A True Renaissance Man
HUZZAH!
I just went to my first Renaissance Faire today!
(which is really a Medieval/Pop Culture/Sci-Fi Faire)
It was an enjoyable experience for a guy like me who loves mythology and fantasy.
To celebrate, I present a recently-made cartoon of mine featuring these fantastical beings from the mind of Paracelsus, a Swiss alchemist, physician, theologian, and natural philosopher (which we might call a scientist today).
He lived during the 1500s, which would place him in the actual Renaissance period.
Mixing Greco-Roman nature spirits with his own theological, medical, and occult belief system, he came up with the Four Elementals, which is featured here in one of my downtime cartoons.

Gnomes seem to be the most famous of Paracelsus's elementals, since they're practically everywhere in modern fiction and residential gardens.
Salamanders come in a close second, although as the name of a real animal.
With this in mind, here is an idea for anyone who wants to try:
If we have garden gnomes, then how about home decorations based on the other elementals of Paraceslus?
Fireplace salamanders
Pool undines
Wind spinner sylphs
Although I enjoyed my time at the Renaissance Faire, as someone who has been to Italy, I think an authentic "Renaissance" fair with Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Shakespeare would be awesome as well.
Yes, I know Shakespeare wasn't Italian, but a lot of his place take place in Italy.
I was even able to explain all the anachronisms I saw by simply saying that the "alien visitors" (sci-fi characters) messed with the spacetime continuum and brought so many different eras of history together.
Perhaps it's no coincidence that the Renaissance Faire is held close to Halloween, since people are already in the mood to dress up.
Auf Wiedersehen! Au revoir! Arrivederci! Chau!
Have a legendary October!
And may the Four Elementals of Paracelsus guide you on your way.
